Hypertrophy Specific Training

Hey whats up
I overheard some stuff about Hypertrophy Specific Training at the gym and then checked a little out about it online and wasn't sure of what exactly it is/does. Could anyone give a brief summary?

Re: Hypertrophy Specific Training

Hypertrophy literally means muscle growth. People train with differing goals, some train for an increase in endurance/stamina, some train for strength, some train to get larger (hypertrophy). This style of training has some specific training routines that you can google or whatever, but for the most part it focuses on the eccentric motion (the elongation of the muscle during a repetition... i.e. lowering the bench press to your chest). It is believed that these microtears from eccentric lifting is what leads to hypertrophy, so sometimes you see negative training etc. in that style of training. Strength training usually refers to explosive concentric training, and endurance is high-rep lower weight. Thats the gist of it.
