Full Body Routine Frequency?

hello guys & gals

I have heard of some of my friends doing Full Body Routines every day or every other day.

I saw some implications in that and was wondering what everyone elses takes on this were because I want to make sure I'm under the right impression.

1) Not enough time to rest
2) Won't be able to blast each muscle with enough energy since you'll be drained by the last exercise
3) Too long of a routine

let me know what you think

thnx

GetSwoll - I agree with you on some of these points. They should not be doing a full body workout every day for sure unless they have some freakish ability to recover super quickly.

Doing a full body workout every other day seems acceptable - they should leave the 7th day of the week off for rest too so that they are training their whole body about 3 times per week.

Depending on their routine they might be able to still do their full body in the optimal hour while at the gym but they would probably be doing a lot of compound exercises and not so much isolation, otherwise I don't think they would have time.

Compound exercises are a great way to put on general mass so this could be their goal.

Also, chances are that their full body routine is mostly just a set of compound exercises to build mass, not a lot of exercises with isolation movements.

just a thought

Re: Full Body Routine Frequency?

Full body routines are fine, if you play your cards right. If you do only 1 exercise for each muscle group, and split the routine up some, there's no arm in that.

In example, working only a compound exercise for shoulders, which is military press, is a good idea. Why? I'll tell you.

You may think you're only working the shoulders once a week. But in reality, you're working them with nearly every exercise you do. Which is why overtraining is so popular when doing more than 1 exercise for each muscle group.

During bench press, your shoulders get killed, as well as chins, bent over rows, deadlifts, etc.

A routine in example

Day 1 - Push

Bench Press
OHP
Dips

Day 3 - Pull

Deadlift
Bent Over Row
Wide Grip Chins

Day 5 - Legs

Squat
Stiff-Leg Deadlifts
Hanging Leg Raises.

Good luck with your training.
