Qualifications Avid Bodybuilding Reader Looking to Learn More I've Been to the Gym | Warming Up Before Work Out hello, i have just started working out on a regular basis. I am working on weight training to gain weight and muscle mass. Should I still do any cardio work or will that burn too many calories? I have heard around that it is a good idea to do some cardio work before working out too though. Don't remember the specifics however. Any suggestions? Thanks-- |

Qualifications Avid Bodybuilding Reader Looking to Learn More I've Been to the Gym | Re: Warming Up Before Work Out One of my trainers got me started on warming up before a workout. I must say it definitely improved my workout by a ton. It gets your blood flowing really well and your body warmed up. You will be able to lift a noticable amount more. Try to warm up for about 5 - 15 minutes before your workout. Also, aside from doing a short cardio warm up before your workout, doing specific exercise warm ups helps too. It warms up the specific muscle group that you will be working on and allows you to lift more. You won't feel so cold going into the exercise too. Def recommend it. Hope this helps some Peace |

Qualifications Avid Bodybuilding Reader Looking to Learn More I've Been to the Gym | Re: Warming Up Before Work Out n agreement with workoutOne, the pre-workout and pre-exercise warm up is VERY helpful. Walking into the gym and promptly sitting down at the bench and lifting can be dangerous and also does not yield the best results. At this time your blood is not flowing quickly and delivering as many nutrients to your muscles as would be preferable. Before you begin lifting, take a trip to the cardio room or cardio section of your gym. A good 10 minute warm up can have a big impact on your workout. When your body is cold you are at risk of injury, such as pulling a muscle. Warming up will get your blood flowing properly and warm up your muscles. When your body is warmer, your nerves send messages at a higher speed and so your reactions increase and your chances of injury decrease. In addition to these benefits, a quality warm up will get your oxygen intake up. Oxygen intake is crucial for a quality workout because your muscles must recieve adequate oxygen in order to function properly. |

Qualifications Avid Bodybuilding Reader Looking to Learn More I've Been to the Gym | Re: Warming Up Before Work Out warming up before will help you to just feel better in general. the blood flow helps you get psyched up for your workout and stimulates your mind (i think gymBum already mentioned that) |

Qualifications Avid Bodybuilding Reader Looking to Learn More I've Been to the Gym | Re: Warming Up Before Work Out In addition to all those reasons, another important reason is for the strength of your cardiovascular system in general. A stronger cardiovascular system is able to flush out more of the lactic acid that builds up in muscles during workout. The lactic acid causes the burning feeling in muscles during stressful workouts. Obviously this doesn't feel good.. my 2 cents |

Qualifications Avid Bodybuilding Reader Looking to Learn More I've Been to the Gym | Re: Warming Up Before Work Out Try to keep your warmup around 10 min, 5 is what I like and then followed up by my ab routine. The ab workouts seem to keep my heart rate up and blood flowing. |
