90 Degree Angles should never be broken - Acute angles are the devil

Want to put undue strain on your body.... break this rule

90 degree angles are the most important rule in all of training.

More to come as my time allows

wow, thank you. Unfourtenatley idiots at my school think if they dont touch the bar to their chest it "doesnt count" im pretty sure the extra 3 inches isn't going to do anything but save you stress on your elbows and rotator cuff

Yea, very good point. This is another common myth among newbies. As you get lower to your chest it also works your triceps out more than your chest so much.

Hope you can spread the word

A wide range of motion (appropriate, of course) is extremely important. I know what you guys are saying, but a lot of bench pressers sacrifice range of motion for extra weight.

It is important to have that wide range of motion - the stretching and microtears is what rebuilds muscle. It is most important to have proper form and appropriate weight.

I'm not quite sure about this rule. For instance, to break parallel when squatting, one must bend ones knees to much less than a 90 degree angle. Also, when benching, one must bend ones arms to an angle less than 90 degrees to touch ones chest. Contrary to what was said previously, 3 inches makes A LOT of difference. Bench does not just work your chest. It works your tris, shoulders, and various other muscles. That's what it's supposed to work. There's a reason that one has to touch one's chest and pause before pressing at powerlifting meets; it's a good way to test general upper body strength.

I thought there would have been, but I guess not. lol Either the other people realize I am correct, or they think I'm insane and have no clue what I'm talking about, or maybe something else. lol

I think Slated was aiming more for doing bench press - although this wasn't stated. I know it was posted during a discussion on bench press form.

Very true. However, it does put more stress on your body and so it depends what your intended goals are (bodybuilding vs powerlifting).

Some good points mentioned in this thread

Another powerlifting specific forum should be set up.

good training

I agree with that. It would probably be best if the administrator would set up a bodybuilding forum and a powerlifting forum. I'm sure he's busy, but it's a thought for whenever he can get around to it. I have to say, though, it would also help if there was more participation on these forums in general. Maybe we need to do a little recrutin'? :-D

Will be done as soon as the other forums are a little more populated so that it doesn't look baron.

Any help spreading word is greatly appreciated
We are working on it simultaneously as working on forum but can't focus on all recruiting right now. Still have journals to set up mainly, and other small things.
