Taking BCAA or Just Leucine

Yo
I was wondering, which would be better to supplement with, a BCAA supplement or a leucine specific supplement? I know the BCAAs contain leucine in them, but the ones I have seen have only had a few grams of leucine in it compared to Slated's recommendation of 7-12 grams leucine post workout. However, the BCAA supplement also contains other bcaa's obviously.

What are your thoughts?

Re: Taking BCAA or Just Leucine

In a few weeks, Scivation/Primaforce are bringing out an EAA product called Primal EAA and it has a very generous amount of Leucine in it.

L-Leucine 4860mg

L-Valine 2160mg

L-Lysine HCL 2160mg

L-Phenylalanine 1836mg

L-Threonine 1296mg

L-Isoleucine 864mg

L-Histidine 702mg

L-Methionine 486mg

Bulk leucine may be cheaper, but can really make you hate taking it because of taste.

Oh boy you're right.. I just tried some today and it tastes horid. I bought some BioCore - Maximum BCAA 5025 today and tried mixing it with my protein shake and it was really bitter.

What are your thoughts?
In a perfect world it would be best to take a total of:
0.17 X (your lean body weight in pounds) = # of grams of BCAA to take
Take 1/2 B4 work out, and start taking the rest about 30 min into your work out if it’s a strenuous work out.

Then to supp with some additional leucine in your post work out shake. Studies have shown that leucine will increase your body’s production of insulin to help take in the protein you consume it better. The BCAA's will help prevent the breakdown of muscle for energy, and both inselin and BCAA's will help prevent your body from producing more cortisol.

I just take in 15 grams BCAA 10 min B4 work out, and another 10 I sip on through out my work out. I don’t supp with leucine in my post work out shake for the time being.
