Qualifications Looking to Learn More | New Guy on the Board Hi everyone I am new here and looking for advice on dropping some weight, have never been to a gym for two main reasons I am too shy and I live in a very small town and the nearest gym is an hour away and costs more than I can possibly afford. |

Qualifications Avid Bodybuilding Reader Looking to Learn More I've Been to the Gym | Re: New Guy on the Board Welcome, we need to see how your diet looks. Also, since you don't have a local gym, invest in some dumbbells, push up bar, etc. (any sporting goods store or Wal-Mart has exercise equipment) to start building yourself a home gym. |

Qualifications Looking to Learn More | Re: New Guy on the Board Sorry about leaving out some info. I am 40yo 273lbs and 5'11" right now I don't have a diet just cutting back on what I eat and have eliminated soda all together. Since I know my ultimate goal of 200lbs is a long way off I have set my first goal at 250. Would definately love to have workout equipment at home but just dont have much space, one of the draw backs of a 90 year old house. |

Qualifications Personal Trainer Avid Bodybuilding Reader | Re: New Guy on the Board Looks like you are going to want to start with some basics. For activity, I would start with walking in the morning (before work) for about a mile or so. Make the walk as fast-paced as you can and work your way up to a jog. Try to add a quarter-mile a weekonce you get to the jogging level. Try to get in a minimum of four walks / jogs a week and work your way towards 5-6. Diet: You are going to want to increase the amount of lean protien sources (egg whites, chicken, fish, turkey, lean beef) and water. You also want to concentrate on taking in the right veggies. Fibrous, green and non-fried veggies are what you are looking for. Keep the furnace hot regarding your eating schedule. Try to eat 5-6 times a day to keep the metabolism spiked. Avoid carb foods in the evening (unless your workouts are in the evening.) This should get you on the right track. Once you get a handle on these things, let us know and we will get you on to the next phase of getting you to your goal. TEX

Qualifications Avid Bodybuilding Reader Looking to Learn More I've Been to the Gym | Re: New Guy on the Board Welcome to CF epd You have some great goals and we all can def help you achieve them. As you get closer to your goals you will also (probably) be less shy and actually want to go to the gym. Getting started is the hardest part in my opinion. Tex has some good advice for starting Quote:
