Qualifications Personal Trainer | Re: Different Types of Personal Trainer Certification There are all kinds of certifications that are offered, and usually each certifiing body will offer slightly different ones such as personal trainer, group trainer, nutritionist, corrective excercise spealist, ect. As far as certifing bodies go, there are dozens of them. Some have better reputations than others. The National Academy of Sports Medicine is a good one (NASM), which is who I am certified through. I would recommend them. The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) is probably the most recognized world-wide as well as one of the most difficult certifications. But, usually if you're looking for a job at a gym they will suggest who they prefer certifications through. |

Qualifications Nutritionist Personal Trainer Transformationed I've Been to the Gym | Re: Different Types of Personal Trainer Certification Depends what exactly you are looking to do, if you just want to work at joe schmoe fitness or 24 hour fitness, then you can get a job as a personal trainer without having a cert. they'll most likely send you to some certification process sponsored by their own gym or something easy just to get you accredited. If you want to be more serious about personal training I would go with what Chris said and lookin into NSCA or ACSM. |
