Qualifications Looking to Learn More I've Been to the Gym | Getting the vein on your bicep hey all I have always been wondering what the deal is with getting that one big vein across your bicep? Is it genetic? Need low bodyfat levels? Bigger bicep to push the vein against the skin? Its part of my goal for my arms and I'm interested to know what it is related to thnx motof

Qualifications Personal Trainer Avid Bodybuilding Reader | Re: Getting the vein on your bicep I agree with LL on this one. In the winter I like to pack on more mass, so my body fat increases slightly. The vein is still visible when working out or flexing, but is absorbed when at rest. However, I train to get lean in the spring so I become more vascular. By May or June, I get my BF% down to 10 and you can see the vascularity at all times. TEX

Qualifications Personal Trainer | Re: Getting the vein on your bicep Hey guys, doing a lot of volume will give you a temporary "pump", which basically engorges the area with blood and will temporarily give you more visible vascularity, but that will quickly fade withen minutes of finishing your workout. Vascularity is certainly partly genetic, however making the most of your God given vascularity is simply having low bodyfat levels. As your bodyfat levels lower, your vascularity becomes more visible because there is less matter underneath your skin. Your level of hydration will also have something to do with that, which is why bodybuilders appear so vascular on stage because they have basically tricked their body to release all the water the body naturally holds. So, the bottom line is if you want to be vascular....get lean! Hope that helps |

Qualifications Professional Bodybuilder Personal Trainer | Re: Getting the vein on your bicep One of the most sought after prizes that I have seen over the years is that very vein that snakes down the arm from the shoulder to the forearm. Both men and women seem intrigued by it, and it is one of the Holy Grails in bodybuilding. The 'vein' actually isn't a vein at all. It is a capillary, a secondary vessel, which, due to the increased size (and therefore blood supply demand of the biceps brachii) the capillries are infused with more blood than they normally carry, and as such they swell. Genetics plays a role in how many veins you appear to have as does your bodyfat levels (the lower your bodyfat, the more you see it), but for the most part almost everyone that I have trained for competition seems to end up getting it, I would conject because of the increased size of their upper arm muscles and the lowering of their bodyfat. (There are some temporary tricks that we in the trade use to bring them out as well). Personally, it sort of freaked me out for several years when mine first popped out. I still feel kind of strange taking a shower and feeling these veins popping out of my skin. Having a low bodyfat level can actually take some getting used to, winters are hell as well. Hope this helps. |
