Re: eating tips for gaing mass?

water is important but not DURING meals, it dilutes your gastric acid and enzymes and will hamper your ability to break down your food into usable form.

that is a excellent point, not many people know that information which is important for maximum body absorbtion of the nutrients. i dont drink anything that contains water about 30mins before i eat.

What about post meals? Do you guys set a limit before consuming water again after? I drink very little water while eating (just sips) but find myself craving it when im through.

I say wait until you are fully digested or near fully digested.

As we age we make less digestive enzymes, if you are suffering from abdominal bloating/distress or in mid thirties I think everyone could benefit from digestive enzymes during meals. Vitacost make a good one: $15.00/90 caps NSI Vegetarian Digestive Enzymes -- 90 Vegetarian Capsules - Vitacost

thanks for that man, as i dont drink much else apart from water or milk (well beer at weekends but thats another story). usually when i get in from the gym i'll have a glass of water while making some food and more water with my food and then again after my meal to try and get the recommended 120oz of water a day or however much it is.

Drinking Water During Meals Hinders Digestion
There is no clear evidence that it does so. It's important to drink enough fluids, but not necessarily at meals. The stomach needs water to digest foods, but it draws in what it needs from the rest of the body, temporarily. Also, everything you eat contains water, even meats. Fruits and vegetables are upto 90% water. Drinking liquids with meals is a matter of preference. This was from another opinion,on water.

The title is just that, the title.Conclusion-It dosnt hinder. It is a personal choice. If you drink during a meal, fine. If you dont, your body will take what it needs,in the digestion process, and thats fine also.LOL.Same as for digestion and the window of oppertunity.Another debate,I have heard over the years is it takes an hour and a half for the small intestine to start to digest and absorb nutrients. So where does that put our post workout whole meal?If you eat right after working out,a whole food meal, when would you absorb the nutrients? Not to get off track, just food for thought.Hee Hee.LOL.

Re: Drinking Water During Meals

OMG,again I could get so caught up in what I eat, when I eat it,what it contains ,what I drink, when I drink it,that I might forget to workout at all!!
For me I try to do my best with water, its all I drink ever, and as for food,I just cram down as much protien as I can and dont eat any sweets.I figure the bread surrounding my turkey will fill the carb requirements and the cheese the fat requirements. Then I get in my gym and work out till im shaking like a
schoolgirl (lol).I think for me the fear is using these nutritional goals as a crutch and blaming them on no gains when in fact I havent been working as hard as I can.(Hasnt happend yet thank God).No pain no gain.

I think I sounded ungrateful in that last post, plz understand I dint mean it that way.I PERSONALLY have a problem when there are too many variables in a given scenario, most people probably dont.I would hate to have a new person read that and get discouraged.Srry CF
