Cool Help Quitting Habit of Junk Food for Healthy Food

I know what to eat, when to eat, how to cook things, but for some reason I always fall to my tastebuds. I can make some really good, healthy food. But when the opportunity presents itself, I'm all about pizza, burgers, fries, etc. Does anyone have any way to help me counteract this. Like I said, I know what to eat and how to prepare it, but I fall to the dark side. Please help with anything you may have done, or read about.

What I try to do is definitley keep a lot of healthy snacks around the house and try not to purchase unhealthy food at all...out of site out of mind. Definitley, keep a lot of grapes, bananas, fresh pinepple necatarines and any other produce you like around the house. No matter how much you like artificial sweets, nothing is as great as a fresh fruit salad or a good fresh pineapple. Also, plan your meals and try to eat several small meals/snacks a day. That way, you're less likely to get the munchies.

If you can force yourself to eat healthy carb foods, your body will naturally adjust to begin wanting these foods instead of the crappier ones. I will try to find an article that explains the science of it, but it works like a charm. Your body gets in a routine of enjoying certain foods and if you can break it and get in routine of eating healthier foods, you will rarely (or much less often) crave the older foods.

When you gotto Mcdonalds, instead of having 3 quarter pounders, have 2.

Seriously though, make small gradual changes in your diet, like on wednesdays... if thats your burger, cheese n chips night, instead try replacing with just potatoes (I like small potatoes), and instead of a burger have steak or something.

Just gradually replace stuff, you obviously gotta have your junk... I dedicate 1 day a week to eat whatever I want and then back to healthy stuff. Never used to eat healthy stuff but over the past year n half been slowly replacing bad food/junk I been eating eg: Chicken kiev n chips, pies, cheese, ready/frozen meals with the likes of chicken, rice, pasta, salad, stir fry, fish, frozen veg (cos chopping up veg is just too much effort for me). Over the past 1 1/2 years ive dropped 50 pounds.

Re: Help Quitting Habit of Junk Food for Healthy Food

One thing that I find very important to not eating junk is by being prepared. Follow your meal plan to a "T". Meaning, don't be late eating your meals, and have them with you no matter where you go, at work, to the gym, or the road, wherever. Because if you are late eating your scheduled meal, you are gonna get hungry, once you get really hungry it becomes much easier mentally to cheat on your diet. But, if you have your food with you at all times it's much easier to say no to that junk food, cause your scheduled meal is right there ready for you. And, as soon as you eat, even if it's healthy food, you lose that desire to eat junk food because your need has already been met.

i 100% agree....i started taking gradual steps to dieting by just eating about 3/4 of what i normally ate.I ended up losing 20 pounds in just a few months...then when i got serious about health then i lost 30 more pounds!
