Re: Help Quitting Habit of Junk Food for Healthy Food

I eat the blandest diet possible. And, although I have made it a lifestyle, nothing is worse then going to the grocery store hungry or strolling down the ice cream aisle. My advice, STAY AWAY....DON'T GO THERE AT ALL, out of site, out of mind is definately the attitude you need to maintain. But remember, treat yourself every once in awhile. My rule of thumb is to eat healthy 6 days a week and grab taco bell or fast food on the 7th day. BUT DONT BUY JUNK FOOD THAT WILL JUST SIT AT YOUR HOUSE...because you will eat it when you shouldnt.

What I started doing was buying those frozen chicken breasts from Sams or Coscos and cooking 3 or 4 of those a night, then using them the next day for meals. So far so good

No matter how much you like artificial sweets, nothing is as great as a fresh fruit salad or a good fresh pineapple. Also, plan your meals and try to eat several small meals/snacks a day. That way, you're less likely to get the munchies.

I definitely agree with the "out of site out of mind" system. If I have the goodies lying around I will tend to eat them just because I want them out of the way.. bad system. But if I can just not buy them, I am never tempted.

But, if you have your food with you at all times it's much easier to say no to that junk food, cause your scheduled meal is right there ready for you. And, as soon as you eat, even if it's healthy food, you lose that desire to eat junk food because your need has already been met.
This is very true, if you let yourself get hungry it is MUCH easier to cheat on your diet and fall to the trap of having a quick piece of junk food. If you stay full you will keep wanting healthier food because the junk food seems less appetizing (atleast for me).
