Tanning Bed or Sun Tan

Hey whats up

I was reading up about tanning and I came across a nice article from bb.com. Something I never knew was that going to a tanning bed is actually safer than getting tan under the sun.

Apparently there are more damaging rays coming from the sun which will give your skin an aged and leathery look.

Re: Tanning Bed or Sun Tan

As for the title, precontest tanning should consist of a tanning bed for more equal tanning as well as fake applied tans to fix any blemishes and get a darker tan. Most amateur contests I've seen, competitors are too light under the bright stage lights.

Re: Tanning Bed or Sun Tan

Usually the higher quality tanning beds have less harmful rays, although they still have some. When getting ready for a show, I was always told to stop tanning 3 days to a week before contest. Because tanning does hold a little bit of water under the skin.

Re: Tanning Bed or Sun Tan

From what understand here in the UK, the general idea appears to be:

a) Yes, suntan in the sun but avoid burning
b) If you must suntan in a tanning salon be aware of the levels used

I have a quesiton though, in competitions are tans a necessity (sp?) to gain points to win? Because when I watch some of the shows for body building and the part where they flex and stuff they're all mostly tanned artificially.

I think there are two answers to that. The first answer is that yes, you need to tan in order to show off the definition under the bright lights that are used, and no, following scares about tanning beds and suntanning, tanning oils do indeed seem to have entered the ascendency

I live in Phoenix AZ so just walking outside for an hour you can get a pretty good tan, I know alot of girls that use tanning booths and it doesn't look natural, usually to orange looking. you can tell the difference between a day at the lake and a day at the salon.
