Re: Attitudes towards bodybuilders

Thats whats sad. This goes back to mulmans post at the beginning of all this.People will fight like hell to be able to blow smoke in your face. But when it comes to putting a free weight facility in the workplace to better their health these same people will complain and say its stupid. We would be better off if most people felt the opposite! All we can do is just keep pumping and hope they will come around.

Yea i agree most people just automaticlly awsume the worse from the gigantic gentic freaks. There's nothing wrong with not wanting to drink, you don't wanna harm your body and that should be your #1 priority...yourself. If any of your freinds have a problem with treating you body with respect...i'd say they're not too much of a freind. I'm not old enough for college yet but i know that most college students wanna party and have a good time and stuff....which is all fine and good, but you're deffinitly there to study...after all you do pay money to go to college. Steroids are over-rated, when i started making gains of muscle mass, people started coming up to me a 16 yr old high school student and asking me if i was using steroids. People still ask me and some people make jokes, do i use the juice. HELLL NO! and i never will.
Simply put people just need to realize that there are some people in this world that wanna treat they're body with some kind of dignity, and all the others need to get over the little steroid issues.

p.s.---someone once came up too me and asked if i was using the juice...he was like 45 yrs old....I was like "why are you jealous or something?" it was so funny.

I'd love to hear more about peoples additudes towards bodybuilders...natural or not.

Re: Attitudes towards bodybuilders

I'm only 17 and I have experienced many of these stereotypes. Some of my friends don't understand bodybuilding/powerlifting, so they make negative assmptions about the sport(s). I have never used steroids and never tested positive for steroids, but people still say that I use them, because they are ignorant. The only thing that can really be done is to go along with it as if it were a joke. There are some peple that will listen to you and try to understand bodybuilding, and those are the people that bodybuilders need to try to surround themselves with.

Re: Attitudes towards bodybuilders

Jake, like he said just take the steriod comments as a compliment. I mean your 17 and if you have not been working out for that long its easy to make gains quicker and more noticeable especially when other guys your age are not working out and their bodies aren't changing. I had ppl asking me that in high school all the time, but what they didn't see is that I was in the gym 5 days a week after school doing intense bodybuilding exercises where I would just try to destroy one body part at a time and then take the supplements I needed to keep growing. I'd say maybe just not talk to your friends about bodybuilding and keep it with the people that understand what your talking about and won't say something stupid at the end of the conversation " hey do you take roids ?".

Re: Attitudes towards bodybuilders

Yea, I always take steroid comments as a compliment, whether people are being serious or joking around with me. Everybody at my school that has any kind of understanding of bodybuilding knows that I don't use steroids, and I have to talk to freshmen, every week, about steroids and the negative affects they have. One guy (a senior) has recorded one of those talks and is making a video of my workouts to show freshmen and sophmores the necessary intensity to make big gains. The main goal is to educate people about how to properly workout, so that they won't feel the need to use steroids.

Re: Attitudes towards bodybuilders

I'msupprised that no one has brought this up yet... but have you ever thought that most of those naysayers that make fun of you for not drinking, or not eating that pizza are jealous of your self control and your determination? most of the time it's just that jealousy... seriously... I've come across this far too often, usually the people who question how I eat or how often I work out are people who NEED to be eating right and working out, but instead of doing what's right, instead of following in my footsteps, they make fun and ridicule me... there's a woman in my office that could EASILY lose 100 lbs, but instead of eating right she complains that she needs to lose weight but then bakes cookies to bring into the office and gets mad when I won't eat them

a good response for those people is to just tell them to eat whatever they want and to leave your food and drink choices to you... you're the one doing the right thing and they're just jealous that you are getting results and getting into great shape... just smile and eat what you want too... I figured out a long time ago that arguing about it with those types of people is just a waste of time and I don't bother anymore... if someone is genuinly interested in learning about what I do, then I'll go into it, otherwise I tell them to mind their own buisness (but nicely)

oh... and a great response to someone who thinks you have an eating disorder would be to take a piece of paper out and write down EVERYTHING you've eaten that day (and are planning to eat) and then show it to them... it's usually REALLY effective and puts a stop to their argument right away... especially once they see how often you eat

oh... and try being a woman who works out... when I tell people I lift weights the normal reaction is "aren't you afraid you're going to get too big?" OR "yea... sure you do, you lift those tiny 5lb plastic weights, right?" dumbasses... my normal reaction is to either show them my training log (which shuts them up FAST) or invite them to the gym while I'm working out... I especially like to see thier faces when they see me doing squats or full deadlifts ;-)~ lol

Re: Attitudes towards bodybuilders

I've gotten nothing but positive from everyone ever. I actually can't think of one negative comment my whole life. Maybe I'm lucky. And to those around the office that don't train, I've taken quite a few of them to my gym with me and started them training.
