Lightbulb Tips on Posting Excerpts from Other Websites

Hey Everyone,

Here are some tips when sharing content from other websites on the forum.

Things to Include:
  1. Why you liked the article or piece of information or what you found to be particularly important / shareable.
    1. This way we know why you posted the article and then we can respond.
  2. The URL to the page or article.
    1. Copyright issues - it is nice to give credit to the original source
    2. Remember, "we want facts, not bull shit"
  3. A brief quote of something from the article.
    1. Keep the quote to one or two paragraphs. If too much of the article is copied, there can be copyright issues. Also, search engines will punish pages that appear to be "duplicate content" and we nor the original writer would like that.
    2. It is nice to see what you found interesting in the article and it gives us a preview of what can be found at the link and whether or not we want to bother clicking the link.
I think this about sums up a great post that shares an article. Looking forward to see what you all find!

All the best,
John
