What to Eat Before Bed

Something that I find myself telling a lot of my friends who are starting to get into lifting is about the wonders of Casein Protein and its benefits of being eaten before bed.

A normal person who is not concerned with gaining mass will fall into a catabolic state during the night time and their body will break things down to provide energy for the night.

This happens because most of the food that is not yet digested before bed is digested in the beginning hours of your sleep and then your body must resort to other sources of energy.

Casein protein can be thought of as a time release protein - your body digests it very slowly and so if eaten before bed, it can help to prevent your body from falling into a catabolic state and eating up your muscles.

So when you want to stay on the path to gains, make sure to eat some casein protein before going to bed!
