A wide range of motion (appropriate, of course) is extremely important. I know what you guys are saying, but a lot of bench pressers sacrifice range of motion for extra weight.

It is important to have that wide range of motion - the stretching and microtears is what rebuilds muscle. It is most important to have proper form and appropriate weight.
