I've Been to the Gym | Re: Attitudes towards bodybuilders I'msupprised that no one has brought this up yet... but have you ever thought that most of those naysayers that make fun of you for not drinking, or not eating that pizza are jealous of your self control and your determination? most of the time it's just that jealousy... seriously... I've come across this far too often, usually the people who question how I eat or how often I work out are people who NEED to be eating right and working out, but instead of doing what's right, instead of following in my footsteps, they make fun and ridicule me... there's a woman in my office that could EASILY lose 100 lbs, but instead of eating right she complains that she needs to lose weight but then bakes cookies to bring into the office and gets mad when I won't eat them a good response for those people is to just tell them to eat whatever they want and to leave your food and drink choices to you... you're the one doing the right thing and they're just jealous that you are getting results and getting into great shape... just smile and eat what you want too... I figured out a long time ago that arguing about it with those types of people is just a waste of time and I don't bother anymore... if someone is genuinly interested in learning about what I do, then I'll go into it, otherwise I tell them to mind their own buisness (but nicely) oh... and a great response to someone who thinks you have an eating disorder would be to take a piece of paper out and write down EVERYTHING you've eaten that day (and are planning to eat) and then show it to them... it's usually REALLY effective and puts a stop to their argument right away... especially once they see how often you eat oh... and try being a woman who works out... when I tell people I lift weights the normal reaction is "aren't you afraid you're going to get too big?" OR "yea... sure you do, you lift those tiny 5lb plastic weights, right?" dumbasses... my normal reaction is to either show them my training log (which shuts them up FAST) or invite them to the gym while I'm working out... I especially like to see thier faces when they see me doing squats or full deadlifts ;-)~ lol
